Getting to Know YOU!

The questions..

1. If you could star in any movie genre..what would it be..romance..horror..comedy..suspense or action?

I would have to say...COMEDY! I am not much of a action, suspense, or horror movie type of gal!

2. Do you recycle?

Yes we do...we recycle glass and aluminum! I also recycle at school! My students are the recycle police. If I accidently toss something "recycleable" in the "trash" they on me like bees on honey!

3. Have you ever been to a strip club?

Nope! Don't think I want to experience that!

4. Do you have a nickname?

Ash, Tyree, Tree.....

5. What's a name you can't stand to be called?

I really don't think I have one!

6. What are your Summer staples?

White shorts/pants, flip flops, bright toe nail polish, bbq's, and a VACATION!

7. What was the last thing you bought for yourself?

A new shirt from Banana Republic this weekend!

8. Are you happy with your boob size?

Ya, because I know girls with enormous boobs and I sadly think, those are going to be hanging to your knees in a few years! Plus, they are going to have serious back problems! Of course I am happy with my "B" cup!!

Weekend Recap

I had a great weekend, but sure did miss Josh. He is working and should be home by Friday!

Friday was such a rainy and nasty day! I was pretty down, when I recieved a phone call from the Volkswagen dealership...they ordered the $700 radiator fan and installed it into my VW and still NO air! They were going to do more investigating today! We can only hope they figure out what is wrong with it soon! Friday evening I went with my parents to a delicious pizza place in town; Simple Simons! I ate a TON! After dinner we went to the First Annual Dodgeball Tournment held at the school I teach at! It was a fundraiser put on by West Plains High School Beta! There were 28 teams and over 350 spectators there to cheer on the teams. My sister, Kate's team got 3rd! YAY! I got to play with my favorite girl; Addison! We were so happy to see her. We are celebrating her first birthday this upcoming Saturday! :)

Saturday morning I got up early and took my praxis, yet one more time! I feel pretty good about it and I pray I passed the stinking thing! Afterwards, I ran errands around town, picked up a bridal shower gift, a thank you gift for a teacher I work with, and even some items for MYSELF! I came home and took a short nap before getting ready for my friend and couisons;Melinda's Bachelorette Party in Branson. I got around and left around 2:00! Once I got to Branson I went to my favorite place: Target and also went to a couple shops to get gifts for our mothers for Mothers Day! I met the girls at 6:00 at the Landing. We had dinner at Cantina Laredo, the BEST Mexican! We enjoyed visiting and sipping on margarita's! After dinner we made our way to Ernie Biggs at Piano Bar! It was so much fun! I had a TON to do on Sunday so I came home Saturday night! I enjoyed my time celebrating with Melinda and the girls!

Sunday I went to church! :) I really missed Josh not going with me, but he will be back before next Sunday! I am truly loving attending church on a regular basis! It is such a good feeling! After church I went to my parents and had pancakes and bacon. mmmm!! I love my Mama's home cooking! I then went to Lowes and got outdoor plants and flowers for our yard! I got them all planted! They look so good! I got to bed early last night! I was worn out!

I had a great weekend and hope ya'll did as well!

Weekend Recap

WOW…This weekend just flew by! We had a lot going on and little time to relax and catch our breath this weekend. This was my Mama’s birthday weekend. We kicked the weekend off on Friday night with a barbeque at our house. Josh grilled some scrumptious steaks, chicken grillers! I made squash, zucchini salad, rolls, green beans, and corn. I made Mom her favorite things! I also special ordered a “Sharon Fox Cake” probably the BEST cake in our area! My Mom was surprised and loved every bite! We then opened gifts. Josh and I got my Mom some wallpaper that she has been wanting for her laundry room bathroom and some other odds and ends!

The delicious cake!

Friday night was also Heathers Prom! It has been a rough week for Heather and Luke. They are currently taking a break. I am really sad! Whatever works for them though, is great with me. We LOVE that girl and want her to be a part of us so bad. Luke decided not to go to Prom with her, but she came by for pictures with us anyways! She looked stunning! So proud of the girl she is becoming!

Saturday I cleaned house in the morning and then got around for my cousin; Melinda’s bridal shower. Her big day is May 15th and it is quickly approaching! She got some great gifts for her and Charlie’s nest! Mom, Dad, Josh, and I went in and got her Paula Deen cookware that she registered for! It was nice!

The Bride-to-Be and I!

Saturday night, Josh and I had big plans to go on a “date” before he left for two week of work! We got busy working in the yard and then we started in on cleaning his farm truck. Holy cow…4 ½ hours later…three trash bags of trash later…It is SPOTLESS! Horray! It looks great! I am driving that truck this week while my car is still at the mechanic getting the A/C worked on! Josh and I ended up just grabbing some dinner in town and then heading home to get him packed up on his two week work journey! I am sure going to miss him while he is gone!

Sunday we celebrated my Mama’s 50th Birthday by going to Branson and Springfield to shop! She had a great time! We went to the outlet malls and found some great spring apparel! We made it back in time to celebrate with both sets of my Grandparents, Uncle, and the Smith Family! We had a great time! Happy 50th Mom!!

Marriage Tales: Married Mondays!

http://ashleythamby.blogspot.com

Married Monday (or Tuesday)

I have really enjoyed reading Marriage Tales blog here lately. She has a lot of nifty tips and great words of advice for all the newlyweds out there. I thought I would partcipate this week in Married Monday, I know today is Tuesday! I am running a little bit behind!

This weeks Married Monday is your first vacation with your husband!

Josh and I took our first vacation together June 2009! It was a vacation I will NOT forget! We went with his family to Desin, Florida! Josh and I drove seperately, we had the best talks, we laughed, we cried, it was an amazing trip! At this point Josh and I had been together for almost two years! We knew that things were becoming more serious and we were thinking "marriage" was soon to be discussed. On our drive to and from Destin we talked about marriage and how we knew we couldnt live without one another! Shortly after our vacation in June, we were engaged in August!

Here are a few photos from our trip to Destin, Florida!

Election Day

Yesterday was a HUGE day that we have been waiting and working for, for a very long time. My Mama has served on the West Plains R-7 School Board for two terms (6 total years) and done an outstanding job! I am a little partial! She is the only woman on the school board and holds her own, let me tell ya! She has been involved in so many great things our district has done for their students, teachers, and staff! She gets to do all the girl things on the board. She is the designer in most everything! She gets to pick colors or paint, brick, rock, landscaping! How fun would that be? She is quite a lady and this post is dedicated to her and all her hard work!

I was her campaign manager this for this election...HAHA! I got a lot of flyer's printed and billboards made. It’s been a lot of fun! I think I missed my calling…POLITICS! I LOVELOVELOVE it! We really weren’t too worried in her loosing the race, but we took every precaution not to!

There was also another big item on this year’s school election ballot…Proposition Two. Proposition Two was a Bond Issue that could have possibly lead to a new and much needed Early Childhood Center added to the current WP Elementary School and a new and also much needed gymnasium at South Fork Elementary School (The school I attended Kindergarten through 6th Grade). This school is definitely part of our family. My Great Aunt, Dad, Brother, Sister, and I have all attended this great school! This is what my Mom calls her, “baby.” She takes care of this small and wonderful place! This school was built 50 years ago and has very little done to it since then. It was all in the hands of the voters yesterday to decide if we could “Put Kids First” and pass this bond!

This what the new addition would have looked like. The new addition is on the far right. The current building is to the left.

Josh and I awoke bright and early yesterday morning, 5:00 a.m. I started my day campaigning at South Fork at 6:45 a.m. and then travelled into town and campaigned at various polling sites throughout the day, as did Josh, my Mom, and her close friend. Dad was tied up working all day! We worked the polling sites hard all day long…rooting for Mom as well as PROP. 2! We heard mixed emotions all day on PROP 2. but really wasn’t worried about Mom. The elderly were definitely against the slight tax increase but we were still positive and hopeful for this wonderful thing! The polls closed at 7:00 p.m.

At 7:00 p.m. we went to the watch party! It was a lot of fun! We had pizza and soda’s and got to visit with all the school officials. Shortly after 7:00 the results were coming in. There were around 2,600 total votes casted yesterday. Pretty low for school bond elections. Mom WON her seat once more with a total of 1,117 votes! YAY!! Although, PROP 2. did not pass. I was super disappointed. We have all put so much time, effort, and money into this thing! It wasn’t even close…I do realize that it is a difficult time for people, but who could not turn down interest free money and construction costs at an all time low. Its very disappointing and I truly wish the citizens of this community realize what a great opportunity they have missed out on.

I am proud of all the hard work that West Plains R-7 staff and parents have put into this issue and I am super proud to be a ZIZZER!

Top Two Tuesday--Favorite Magazines

This weeks Top Two Tuesday at the Undomestic Mama was pretty simple for me! Hands down these are my two favorite magazines.

I bought myself a subscription to Real Simple when Josh and I got married. It has some pretty neat things in it!

PEOPLE magazine is also a must have in our house hold! I love it and look forward to purchasing it each week when I am at the grocery store!

Easter Weekend

Our Easter weekend was super BUSY, but so much fun! Josh and I enjoyed spending time together this past week and weekend. With our hectic schedules and his work schedule we don’t get these times very often.

We spend the entire week preparing for our very first celebration at our home. We hosted Easter for both of our families (about 40 people). Josh worked SUPER hard all week getting our yard ready for SPRING! He put out mulch, mowed, spread new gravel in our drive, cleaning out our shed, cutting down limbs, need I say more! He has been so much help this week! Our place is looking fantastic too! Thanks to my hubby!
I had Friday off of school so I got our house ready. I cleaned, cleaned, and cleaned some more! I am NOT a SUPER clean freak! It had to be PERFECT for this event! Friday afternoon Josh and I went to Heather’s softball game! She did great…she hit a double for her team. They won 5 to 7. Friday evening we went to Josh’s parents for dinner. We had a great meal and visit. It was great to see our nephew Drake. He is growing like a weed! He has a mouth full of teeth and can say “JOSH”! So sweet! He just turned 17 months that is so hard to believe!

Saturday I worked at the pharmacy. It was my first time working there in 2 months. I was anxious to see everyone! It was a fun morning. I got off at 1:00 and went and picked up some Easter treats for Josh! My Mom came over and we went and got tables and chairs for Sunday. We had everything set up in an hour. Josh and I grilled some hotdogs for lunch and then went for an afternoon drive. We went to look at some land we have been reading about! (We are in the market for a place to build on)!  It was such a nice afternoon. We enjoyed our drive!

Sunday was a busy busy day, but so much fun! I got up at 6:00 to put my rolls out to rise and to make some deviled eggs. We then got around for church. The service was GREAT! Josh and I are enjoying attending church so much and truly think it is strengthening our marriage! Praise God! We then rushed home and started preparing our lunch. My Mom came over and helped us! Josh peeled 15 pounds of potatoes! WOW…he is a good man! We had everything ready at 1:00 and our guests were there ready to EAT!!! We had a great meal and visit…and then the EGG HUNT! It was so much fun watching the kiddos hunt those eggs! Drake was precious! After our family left we cleaned up and then went for a Sunday afternoon drive. We were both in bed at 8:30! We were pooped! It was such a great weekend!
